Corton Vergennes
Grand Cru 2002

Rebsorte : Chardonnay

Boden : Clay and limestone covered with stones

Lage : A very small single vineyard shared between Chanson and the Hospices de Beaune on a hump of the hill of Corton. The vineyard used to belong to the Count of Vergennes, who was counselor to Louis XVI and signatory for the Treaty of Independence with the United States of America

Der Jahrgang 2002 : The harvest took place at the end of September, several days after the official beginning of the harvest in order to obtain the best possible maturation of the berries. Excellent weather conditions prevailed in August and September and hence the good quality of the grapes. A severe pruning had been carried out to limit yields. Aging in oak casks during 10 months.

Verkostung : Bright gold colour. Floral fragrances mixed with white pale fleshed fruit (mango) and almond underlined by a vanilla note. Elegant, well-balanced, concentrated. Beautiful aromatic combination enhanced by a refined oak note. Well-structured, harmonious with an outstanding persistence.

Servierempfehlung : Seafood, “foie gras”, fish in a creamy sauce, crayfish. Particularly great with a selection of French cheeses.
