Corton Vergennes
Grand Cru 2006

Rebsorte : Chardonnay

Boden : Clay and limestone covered with stones

Lage : Chanson and the Hospices de Beaune are the major operators of this very small single vineyard located on a hump of the hill of Corton. The vineyard used to belong to the Count of Vergennes, who was counselor to Louis XVI and signatory for the Treaty of Independence with the United States of America.

Der Jahrgang 2006 : The weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. However, the sun appeared at the end of August and continued throughout September. The harvest commenced in mid-September in perfect conditions. Careful selection of grapes in the vineyard and winery have produced beautiful white wines with fantastic acidity. Aged in French oak for 10 months.

Verkostung : Bright gold colour with emerald tinges. Intense aromas of green almond, fresh honey enhanced by a well-defined minerality and a delicate vanilla note. Powerful and well-balanced. Very pure aromas on a well-defined minerality. Well-intregrated oak note. Very long finish.

Servierempfehlung : Seafood, "foie gras”, fish in a creamy sauce, crayfish. Particularly great with a selection of French cheeses.
