Grape Variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : Limestone with clay
Site : "Les Marconnets" are located in the Northern hint of the Appelation Beaune 1er Cru. The name of this vineyard referred to the german tribe "Marcomans". Chanson owns 4 ha, i.e, 40% of the vineyard.
The Vintage 2014 : After a cool and rainy winter and a frost episode in April, the warm and dry weather in spring was perfect for the flowering. In July and August the weather was more demanding but it became fine again early September with a true Indian summer which enabled a perfect maturation for the grapes. The harvest took place mid September under a bright sunshine. The red wines give off beautiful aromas of ripe red berries with a sappy texture. Aging in oak casks during 17 months.
Tasting : Deep ruby colour. Floral notes of peony flowers mixed with intense aromas of black cherries on a hint of mild spices. Subtle vanilla note. Well-structured with a complex texture. Very pure fruit. Firm base of tannins. Long finish.
Food pairing : To be enjoyed with white or red meat, grilled or roasted, games and all sorts of cheeses especially all the cheeses produces in Burgundy (Epoisses, Langres, Citeaux, Ami du Chambertin).
