Grape Variety : Chardonnay
Soil : Clay and limestone
Site : Roche Vineuse is a small terroir located in the Saône et Loire Department, in the villages of la Roche Vineuse, Hurigny and Chevagny-les-Chevrieres, in the vicinity of the famous cliffs of Solutré and Vergisson.
The Vintage 2014 : After a cold and rainy winter and a frost episode in April, the warm and dry weather in spring was perfect for the flowering. July and August were more demanding but the weather improved early September and a warm Indian summer settled down and enabled a perfect maturation of the grapes. The harvest took place mid September under a bright sunshine. The white wines develop very pure zesty aromas with floral fragrances.
Tasting : Pale gold colour. Delicate floral fragrances mixed with citrus fruit aromas on a hint of fresh honey. Well-balanced and crisp. Precise and taut. Long aftertaste with a well-shaped acidity and zesty notes.
Food pairing : Poultry, grilled fish and goat cheese.
