Grape Variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : Mix of clay and limestone
Site : In the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, South of Côte de Beaune, the vineyards of Mercurey are mainly planted with Pinot Noir. Located mid slope, facing South-East.
The Vintage 2003 : Exceptional due to a warm summer which incited an early harvest before the end of august. Low yields. Outstanding concentration and fully matured during the harvest.
Tasting : Ruby with purple tinges on the rim. Pungent bouquet of red berries enhanced by subtle notes of spiciness. Fruit driven with an excellent follow-through of the red berry flavours. Full texture, supple with a good balance between the acidity and tannic structure.
Food pairing : Enjoy with red or white meat, and a wide variety of French cheeses.
