Meursault Perrières
1er Cru
2008

Grape Variety : Chardonnay

Soil : Clay and limestone covered with stones.

Site : "Les Perrières" is situated on mid slope on the hill South of Meursault. This Premier Cru Vineyard is considered as the ultimate area in Meursault, combining richness and minerality.

The Vintage 2008 : After a very warm spring, the weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. It became fine again from the end of August with much sun and a north wind, which aided concentration of flavours. The harvest commenced in mid-September in perfect conditions under an Indian summer. Careful selection of grapes in the vineyard and winery with regular batonnage (stirring of the lees in the barrel) have produced very pure white wines, well-balanced with fantastic acidity. Aging in oak during 17 months.

Tasting : Bright gold colour. Fragrances of lime tree blossom mixed with aromas of green almond and honey. Beautiful minerality with a delicate vanilla note. Energetic attack. Tight texture, dense. A lot of depth. Very pure fruit. Very well defined with a long and mineral finish.

Food pairing : To be enjoyed with lobster, seafood, white meat and some cheeses (Reblochon, Cantal).
