Grape Variety : Gamay
Soil : Granite
Site : One of the most famous crus of the Beaujolais. The area of production is located in the southern part of the villages of Chenas in the Saône & Loire Department and in Romanèche Thorins in the Rhône Department. The vineyards are on the sides of a hill overlooked by a windmill, hence the name of the wine.
The Vintage 2008 : The weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. It became fine again from the end of August with much sun and a north wind, which aided concentration of flavours. The harvest commenced in mid-September in perfect conditions under an Indian summer. Careful selection of grapes in the vineyard and winery have produced crunchy red wines with very pure aromas.
Tasting : Bright red colour with purple nuances. Intense aromas of red current mixed with spices. Well-structured and generous. Refreshing and lively. Well shaped tannins.
Food pairing : Cooked pork meat "charcuterie", barbecue and all sorts of mild cheeses.
