Puligny-Montrachet Champs Gains
1er Cru
2007

Grape Variety : Chardonnay

Soil : Mix of clay and limestone

Site : Excellent situation in the heart of the Premiers Crus of Puligny Montrachet. The vineyard is situated on the upper part of the slope, in short distance from the Hameau de Blagny. A sunny terroir with a concentration of stones and pebbles.

The Vintage 2007 : After a very warm spring, the weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. It became fine again from the end of August with much sun and a north wind, which aided concentration of flavours. The harvest commenced in mid-September in perfect conditions under an Indian summer. Careful selection of grapes in the vineyard and winery with regular batonnage (stirring of the lees in the barrel) have produced very pure white wines well-balanced with fantastic acidity. Aged in oak casks during 12 months.

Tasting : Pale gold colour with green tinges. Floral fragrances mixed with pale fleshed fruit aromas. Subtle mineral note enhanced by a delicate vanilla note. Generous, dense and tight. Well-structured on well-balanced acidity. Long and linear finish.

Food pairing : To be enjoyed with fish (salmon), seafood and some goat cheeses.
