Grape Variety : Chardonnay
Soil : Clay and limestone
Site : The climat is ideally located nearby the so famous Montrachet and Chevalier Montrachet, the South Est exposure is excellent as well. The high proportion of clay gives to the wine a specific minerality which underlines the typicality of the Chardonnay. The vines are planted at regular distance of each other which enables deep ploughing of the soil.
The Vintage 2013 : After a long winter and a gloomy spring, the summer was warm and sunny but with intervals of violent hail storms. The harvest took place in the last days of September under a bright sunshine. The difficult weather conditions at the beginning of the year and the hail storms have considerably impacted the yields in most of the wine regions but quality is there. The white wines are tense with citrus fruit aromas and a well-shaped acidity. Aging in oak casks during 11 months.
Tasting : Pale gold colour. Intense aromas of pears and green apple on a hint of minerality. Complex and concentrated. Well-balanced. Elegant minerality with a well-integrated acidity. Delicate oak note. Refreshing and long finish.
Food pairing : To be enjoyed with "foie gras", seafood, fish and goat's cheese.
